Adam Driver relentlessly pursues the uncomfortable truth of a post 9/11 world in writer/director Scott Z. Burns’ great-looking new drama THE REPORT.
The very talented producer and writer Scott Z. Burns who alongside Steven Soderbergh, brought us Side Effects, Contagion, and the upcoming Panama Papers movie The Laundromat, steps into the director’s chair for a second time with his new feature film THE REPORT.
Based on real events and charting the investigation by Senate staffer Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver in what’s certainly another Oscar-nominated performance) into the CIA’s post 9/11 Detention and Interrogation Program, we witness the uncomfortable truths and very dangerous secrets he uncovers which the intelligence agency wants to keep hidden. What started out as a fact-finding exercise on behalf of his boss Senator Dianne Feinstein (the great Annette Bening) soon becomes a mission to expose what really happened but in doing so, his own life may be in danger.
Burns has assembled a top-notch cast to bring these questionable events to life in THE REPORT and alongside Driver and Bening, we have Jon Hamm, Corey Stoll, Matthew Rhys, Tim Blake Nelson, Ted Levine, Jennifer Morrison, and Maura Tierney.
The teaser trailer that gives the first look of what I think will be one of the movies of the autumn – released in the U.K. on 15th November – is now online but you can catch it here…
