Oscar nominated writer and now award-winning director Taylor Sheridan takes us into the wilderness to catch a killer in Wind River.
Following his screenplays for the outstanding Sicario and equally memorable Hell or High Water, the Oscar nominated writer Taylor Sheridan now turns director to bring his script Wind River to the screen.
With a stellar cast headed up by fellow Avengers co-stars Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner, we are heading into the bleak but beautiful wilderness of Wyoming to catch a killer. Olsen is FBI agent Jane Banner, called out to the Wind River Indian reservation when Renner’s Cory Lambert, a local tracker, discovers a body in the snow.
But from the second trailer that’s now online, solving this mystery looks far from easy, with multiple suspects and a harsh terrain to cover.
“Out here you survive, or you surrender.”
Says Renner’s Lambert in an appropriately gritty way and stepping in for initial choice and Sheridan’s Hell or High Water star Chris Pine, critics are saying it’s Renner’s finest performance to date. And the rest of that stellar cast I mentioned? You have the brilliant Graham Greene, Hell or High Water stand-out supporting star Gil Birmingham and Sicario’s Jon Bernthal.
With the film earning Sheridan an Un Certain Regard ‘Best Director’ award at this year’s Cannes film festival, alongside a host of glowing reviews, the movie looks like a must-see when it opens in the U.S. in August and the UK in September.
